Sravasti – 25 Rainsy Seasons of Lord Buddha – Buddhism in Sravasti - Jetavana - Ananda Bodhi Tree

Jetavana monastery is main tourist attractions with meditation and chanting made at Gandhakuti, known as Buddha's hut and Anandabodhi tree. It is the place where Lord Buddha spent 19 rainy seasons. The main attractions of this place are Anandabodhi tree, Anandakuti and Gandhakuti.

The Ananda Bodhi Tree: Under this bodhi tree Lord Buddha Meditated for a night.

Balrampur: Known for a shrine constructed in contemporary architectural style.

Saheth: A main pilgrimage place where various temples, stupas and monasteries are situated

Anathapindika Stupa: A much admired Buddhists site erected by Anathapindika.

Sobhanath Temple: Birthplace of Tirthankara Sambhavanath in Jainism.

The Potala Palace: Thousands of pilgrims from across the world came every year to pay homage to this grand estate and the symbol it stands for. Potala Palace is considered as one of the wonders of the world for due its physical structure and its importance in Tibetan history.

The White Palace:  The White Palace was home of ten successive Dalai Lamas and their courts.  After Norbulingka was built in 1755, it became the summer residence of the Dalai Lama, and the White Palace became known as the winter estate of this saint of Buddhism.

Inside the Potala Palace:  Housed within this amazing stone and wood structure are articles and artifacts from Tibetan history, religion, and culture. There are various numerous statues of Buddha, murals, and antiques in this palace.  

The comprehensive works of art and murals tell diverse stories of the Dalai Lamas and the history of the Tibetan people and describe traditions held in this beautiful place of the world. 


Travelers mostly visit the topmost hall in all the ornate decorations made in these sacred walls.  Sasong Langjie contains a portrait of the Qing Emperor Qianlong. An engraving on this portrait “A long, long life to the present emperor” is written in numerous languages as Han, Manchu, Mongol, and Tibetan. Dalai Lamas came here to pay homage every Tibetan New Year's Day for centuries as they pray for guidance and direction for the Tibetan people.

The Golden Roof Group:  The golden roof group gives a unique view of the Potala Palace. It is situated on the top of the Red Palace and comprises of seven roofs made by gilded bronze. Every golden roof is decorated with one to five flower and bell shaped spires, which serve as lightning conductors. If you step out on the palace roof, you can see the blue sky and white cloud above your head and overlook the city.
